DEVELOPMENT

THANKS TO OUR MAJOR SPONSORS

Our Development Committee and Development Officer have been working together to provide our athletes with the opportunity to receive high performance coaching through our Slammers pathways. These pathways will aim to reach as many kids as possible and include opportunity for both WABL and domestic athletes.

Domestic Development Session

In conjunction with our development officer and our NBL1 players we will be hosting training sessions aimed at the development of our young and up and coming athletes. These skills-based sessions will be open to those of all skill levels from 6-11 years old.

Currently these sessions will run for 5 weeks on Tuesdays from 350-445 at Southwest sports centre, starting August 16th. These sessions are perfect to brush up your skills before the start of the next domestic season.

The sessions will be run at Eaton Rec Centre on Mondays from 340-430pm. Starting August 8th  this 5 week training block is a great opportunity to develop.

Southwest Development Program

The introduction of the Southwest Development Program will provide selected WABL athletes with the opportunity to receive high performance training with our elite coaches. This development program aims at improving individual skills as well as preparing them to successfully prepare and compete at WABL, SPP and hopefully at national championships. This will also be open to our coaches and aim at developing their individual skills as well as creating a united pathway for our club.

This program aims to continue to grow into 2023 with hope to provide our athletes with Strength and conditioning, nutrition advice as well as individualized training plans.

Small Group Sessions

As a family at the Southwest Slammers our NBL1 players understand the importance of giving back to a community that has given them so much. Bridging this gap is important to us and one way we can do this is by giving our WABL community the chance for small group sessions and individual sessions with our NBL1 players. These will run throughout the season and can be arranged privately as well.

Coaching Clinics

Developing our coaches is an area which we are looking to grow and improve in with the introduction of formal and informal coach education sessions to be offered through BWA, clinics and workshops. These sessions will be aimed at our WABL and domestic coaches to help develop the skill level of all our athletes throughout the southwest. In doing this we hope to provide a pathway for both our coaches and athletes from Aussie hoops and development sessions, to domestic, WABL and hopefully into NBL1.

Any upcoming coaching courses can be found on our website, as well as our social media. If you are interested in hosting a clinic in your region or having our NBL1 teams come visit please email development@southwestslammers.com.au

As a club it is important for us to give back so keep an eye out for all our upcoming events in the community.
